Palmer has lived with high-functioning autism his entire life, facing challenges that often made the future feel uncertain. In high school, he wasn’t sure what path to take or if college was even the right move for him. But instead of letting that uncertainty hold him back, Palmer took a step forward.

He started at Brightpoint Community College, where he began to find his footing and build confidence. From there, he transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University, earning his bachelor’s degree. Not stopping there, Palmer continued pushing himself academically and went on to earn his master’s degree from Indiana University.

Outside of school and work, Palmer is full of energy and personality. He loves being social and attending church, enjoys playing video games, and stays active through working out. Today, he uses that same passion and positivity in his role as an Activity Assistant at a retirement home for veterans—bringing joy, connection, and meaningful experiences to those he serves every day.

Palmer’s journey is a reminder that it’s okay not to have everything figured out right away. With persistence, courage, and a willingness to keep going, you can create a path that’s uniquely your own.
